We often get asked what does XILO mean? Well, the answer is nothing, at least, not in the English language (as far as we know!).

XILO was incorporated at Companies House on 12 December 2007 and is registered in England and Wales as XILO Communication Ltd. with company number 06451134. We’re also registered to collect VAT on behalf of HMRC with VAT number GB 930 3394 39. However, we were around long before then and have been trading since 2003!

As we collect and store data of our customers which can include names, addresses, phone numbers and other personal information, as required by law, we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and our registration number is Z1364503. All information that we store is retained on servers within the UK.

Our registered office is: Suite B, 29 Harley Street, London, W1G 9QR, United Kingdom. If you’re sending us a cheque, postal order or general post, please use our contact address.

OUR HISTORY

We’ll just run through a very brief history of XILO and where possible, will give dates that have been important to us since our inception.

June 2009
We launched a range of broadband packages with connections provided via BT IP Stream and LLU.

March 2009
Web Host Directory awarded XILO for excellent, reliable and good value for money VPS services.

XILO became a LIR (local internet registry) with RIPE (Réseaux IP Européens), enabling us to assign end users IP address space directly.

January 2009
We announced that XILO would carbon offset CO2 produced by the services we offer in association with coco2.org. 

Another partnership, this time with GlobalSign after ending our relationship with Comodo due to a security issue.

December 2008
The popular speedtest site, Speedtest.net, contacted us asking if we’d like to be the Maidenhead test location. We now see users running thousands of speedtests a day, with some of the tests bursting at over 300Mbit/s.

September 2008
Complete overhaul of our website to a new, cleaner image. This was our third site design.

July 2008
A benefit of joining the ISPA was membership to Communications & Internet Services Adjudication Scheme (CISAS), an independent dispute resolution service (DRS).

June 2008
We joined the Internet Services Providers’ Association (ISPA).

January 2008
Web Host Directory chose XILO as the best UK Reseller Hosting provider.

December 2007
Incorporated at Companies House as XILO Communications Ltd.

October 2007
Relocated all server and network hardware from racks at RedBus E14, London to the superb BlueSquare facility, just outside the M25.

April 2007
After several months of positive internal testing, we rolled out the Mail Foundry service to all shared hosting customers for free. Our valued reseller customers are able to up-sell the service to their end users thus increasing their product portfolio.

December 2006
Our shipment of Mail Foundry devices arrived to our office and we started a 5 month testing period with a small group of beta customers.

November 2006
We invested in new backup software to replace cPanel’s built-in backup script. R1Soft CDP was rolled out to all servers allowing users to restore their own backed up data from within the cPanel interface.

Febuaury 2006
Due to customer demand, we rolled our our new VPS services.

September 2004
Complete overhaul of our website. This was our second site design.

July 2003
We joined Nominet as a member and registrar which allowed us to offer .uk domains to all customers.

June 2003
Our site, xilo.net was launched offering basic shared and reseller hosting.
